Prince

I have decided to include prince as a best practise example, even though he has not released anything for free. What he did was to sell his album for mas distribution his new album with the English paper “London's Daily Mail”

Although he did not give away his album it is a great example of how you can relocate the revenue generation from the sale to a complimentary service (the concert)

While he “only” earned 1 million pounds from the bulk sales to Daily mail, he generated 23,4 million pounds in revenue from 21 sold out concerts in London. A record concert revenue for the region that can be attributed to the distribution of the free cd.
